Continuing with the previous series in Dare to Steady, we’re diving back into Mission Kindness again where we paired people of two very different generations to complete unexpected missions.

As Mission Kindness came to a close, missions 3,4, and 5 gave us the perfect blend of fashion, fun and friendship. What started with playful challenges ended with heartfelt moments. Along the way, we picked up some valuable lessons that made this journey unforgettable.

Mission 3 - The Thrift Showdown

In this mission, our host Aly and the ever-stylish Ms Yan went head-to-head at Woofie, a thrift store tucked at the heart of Haji Lane. Each of them had one model — Linda for Ms Yan, and Jennie for Aly. Their mission was to curate the perfect outfit to style their models, and prepare them for a mini runway show in the store.

Linda was dressed in a black stylish spaghetti strap top with a long blue skirt, topped off with a white denim jacket and accessorised with a metal chain necklace, as well as a pair of cool shades. On the other hand, Jennie was dressed with a flowery top and dark cardigan over it, complemented with cute pink shades. With Linda rocking the demure style and Jennie embracing the youthful look, the models strutted confidently down the “runway” (store aisle) with poses and flair accompanied by giggles and cheers.

While we had fun watching the two feel and look good in their newly chosen fits, we also learnt that kindness can be creative. Sometimes, showing love means paying attention to someone’s style and helping them feel confident in their skin, even if it’s through a thrifted jacket or cute flowery tops. Most importantly, we got to bridge intergenerational bonds with Aly having to work together with older co-hosts, and us the production crew having to interact with them.

Mission 4 - Strike a Pose

Outfits done, it was time to put their styling and directing skills to the test. In mission 4, Aly and Ms yan became creative directors in a photoshoot challenge, guiding their models through poses using props in the store.

From using retro old telephones to matching poses, every shot was full of personality and teamwork. However with Ms Yan’s experience and confident creative directing gave her the upper hand and she secured her win against Aly!

Unfortunately for Aly, her forfeit was a harmless yet funny one: eating a sour candy. Her puckered expression and exaggerated reaction was simply priceless and hilarious!

We watched Aly and Ms Yan guide their models with patience and encouragement, which reminded us that kindness also shows up in the way we uplift others during pressure. While the photos and experience was something that only the cast took away with them that day, we took away even more valuable lessons like being able to learn even from people so much older than us! Despite their age, their styling and creative directions for posting were not lacking compared to Gen Zs.

Mission 5 - The Kindness Recap

To wrap up Mission Kindness, we pulled off a surprise that our host didn’t see it coming.

With help from the talented crew Everdance, we brought Aly to a heartwarming session with a group of energetic elderlies — where not only did Aly dance along with the elderlies, but the crew members also joined in for a workout! It was our way of thanking her for being the heart of this series, spreading kindness through every challenge, every laugh, and every interaction.

This dance workout with Everdance was indeed one of our most memorable sessions as we never had an opportunity like this one yet. The dance may have started with nerves and embarrassment, but it ended with joy. Watching Aly accompanied by us grooving with the elderly together reminded us of how simple acts like showing up, moving together, and sharing smiles can leave a lasting impression and impact across many generations.

Final Reflections

Sometimes, the most meaningful connections come from places we least expect, in our case completing kindness missions, through joining a workout, and even through pranking others! Recapping from all our previous missions, we went from funky fashion challenges, to surprise dance-offs. Mission Kindness wasn’t just about doing good — it was about doing good together. It reminded us that laughter and kindness aren’t separate things, in fact they often go hand in hand.

And with that, we officially wrap up Mission Kindness. What began as a lighthearted series of challenges turned into a powerful reminder of how fun, connection, and compassion can come together in the most unexpected ways. Thank you for joining us on this journey!

We hope these moments inspired you as much as they inspired us! Do you Dare to Steady?
